John Whelan, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and author with over 30 years working in mental health and addiction in roles ranging from therapist, clinical director, researcher, and consultant.
Dr. Whelan served as director for a long-term addiction recovery facility after leaving the military. He returned to the military as a contract psychologist completing his dissertation on mental health and addiction outcomes for military members with substance abuse and mental health issues. He went on to serve as clinical director for the CAF addiction treatment programs for approximately 10 years. In 2002, he established a private clinic and group-based programs for the treatment of complex PTSD and addiction. John has consulted with private addiction centers and private and public mental health organizations and has written extensively in three previous books on trauma and PTSD. Dr. Whelan is Adjunct Professor at Mount St. Vincent University where he teaches and continues outcome-focused clinical research, advocacy and outreach work. Follow John on social media... |
